Sydney Ross
Sydney Ross earned her B.A. in Anthropology and International Affairs from East Tennessee State University in 2020, graduating magna cum laude. Before attending law school, she worked in the nonprofit sector in Alexandria, Virginia, and Knoxville, Tennessee, where she developed experience in program development, grant writing, and community-focused initiatives.
Sydney earned her J.D. from the University of Tennessee Winston College of Law in 2026. During law school, she was a Tennessee Law Scholar and Graduate Research Assistant, conducting interdisciplinary legal research on issues including constitutional rights, discrimination, international law, and regulatory policy. She also served as Co-Director of the 2025 Appalachian Public Interest Environmental Law Conference and as Editor-in-Chief of the Tennessee Journal of Race, Gender, and Social Justice.
Sydney received CALI Awards for excellence in Legal Process II, Environmental Justice, Advanced Appellate Advocacy, and Constitutional Rights and Liberties. She also gained practical experience through the University of Tennessee Transactions Clinic, where she advised nonprofit and for-profit clients on entity formation, contract review, and intellectual property matters.
Prior to joining Shuttleworth PLLC as an Associate, Sydney spent two years as a legal intern with the firm, where she worked on civil defense litigation in Tennessee state courts. She brings to her practice a background in litigation, legal research, and public-interest work.
